my son went to gulf coast in tampa in 2008.he came out in 08/24/2010

How can Sexy Rexy get a pay increase for someone who is in the same position? I thought you had to get promoted to get a raise?

Gulf Coast Youth Academy got a 74% on its last QA....way down from what it got in 2009...has the Program declined that much or did they finally get a honest QA team? The mental health services got a "minimal " score.
What is going on?
many of the programs are not working at 100% due to not having the kids to fill them. Why not close the poor performing programs and consolidate? This will save money and put the kids in programs that are better. OH! that makes sense--I forgot this is DJJ

YOu know this whole site ia a joke. Some of US djj employee actually do our jobs and like what we do. Some of us in efforts to protect YOUR kids from themselves and other become injuredby your kids and now cant take care of your kids. Maybe if some of you would actually be a parent to your kids and chestize them when its needed then they won't end up in a system. You think this page is helpful or your going to get something out of it...yea you will it will be your unruly, "disabled", direspectful Children ending up in prison. TRue some do need help and some don't but if you as parents step up before its too late and get your child help before they continue to commit crimes you won't have to worry about your kids being abused. Because If you ask me their first abuse started when you refused to hug, them, kiss, them and ultimately raise them. so yoes you will get exactly what you are looking for which will be: Programs closing, prisons opening, crimes increasing, unemployment rates increasing and more needy children. So thanks in advance for closing my facility, making me lose my job and starving my kids...you seem to forget that these kids are criminals and no this does not mean treat them inhumanely , but the average kid that doesnt get treated fairly in a program does not return. The ones that get pacified and pushed along always return.

'.........Marion County’s savings will likely mean financial losses for the DJJ and eventual downsizing of its staff if other counties do the same as Marion, said DJJ Deputy Secretary Rod Love at the Tuesday ceremony.
He said if other counties also take over the detention of their youthful offenders, some DJJ employees would no longer be needed, but hopefully absorbed by other agencies and county government work roles.'

G4S likes the crumbs but gets rid of good employees
Everyone who job is at stake because of closures and county take-overs need to email Rick Scott and give him the real low-down.....let see...how MUCH does Peterman make in addition to how much he steal/ Hoe MUCH does Love make--do we really need this guy? Do we really need all the layers of FAT at HQ--they are falling all over themselves but cant produce anything...our lowly paid jobs are on the chopping block--what about theirs?
Anyone got any info about the kid who tried to hang hiseelf at Miami detention center? They keepin it hush-hush but the down low is it was pretty serious.

Our very own leader is up for ethics charges (his hearing is set for December 3rd, we will probably be barred from watching it of course)--the sad fact is that the state is on the verge of collapse due to years of fatcats, huge retirement payouts, and the general state of the country. The best thing anyone can do now is inform themselves about the DICTATOR we have elected as president and ger rid of him in 2012. Stop listening to the rhetoric and educate youself people. The govt is planning to "centralize" your retirement--that means it will be distributed to those who have none--no matter that you worked for ti. That is communism. The govt has "death panels" in the Obama bill--who do YOU think should decide if you getlife-saving health care? Under the Obama plan, by the way, the IRS will be in charge of your insurance coverage. This guy is far more dangerous than anything going on in Florida. He has ties with some of the most extremist, dangerous groups in the country/world, he bows to terrorists, he plays golf while the gulf oil spills, and now with tensions building in Korea he decides to go ahead and visit his union buddies in Indiana. He and the thugs theat put him in office are destroying this country and people are too mesmerized to see it. Well you will believe it when you end up paying up to 80% of you income to the governemnt--that's communism. It is here, folks, and the only way to stop it is inform yourselves and vote accordingly.

you know, I read this blog and the only thing that I can say is wow..... how sad, how misinformed. It is nothing more that venting for personal gain by upset staff, sniping from the shadows, trash talk about people you don't know, about a dept that not a single one of you would have the guts to join. I spent 5 years with DJJ, it wasn't perfect, but if you people spent half as much time with these little criminals and tried to teach them something of value, maybe these facilities would not be as full. As far as the staff goes, you get what you pay for. Look at what the dept pays. And then you cowards talk all this crap about these people that are willing to put up with all that for what they make? Walk a mile in their shoes, walk a weeks worth of shifts then maybe you will gain some perspective and then maybe you will have a right to comment on the staff, admin, and leaders of DJJ.
