It's called leadership by example. Who cares who's in charge? This broken machine will keep on breaking. Don't believe their PC lies, nothing going to change.

At the Palm Beach Detention center a boy died on Sunday The local paper says 6 people are on administrative leave.
I am not surprised about the death of any child in the DJJ system. What, exactly, did we get for the most inexperienced, pompous, "overwhelmed" MD and her huge staff, with a huge budget, in response to the Omar Paisley death? Nada. Just a lot of posturing. Absolutely no knowledge about the medical issues in juvenile delinquency (wrote one paper about it which was recycled periodically). For years they ignored the real issues---no one gets it yet---you have to be constantly vigilant and in the programs, literally working side by side with other medical people, to see if there are flaws in the system. I dont know if the boy that recently died died because of something at the facility or something else--but usually, there is a missing link that leads to a death, whatever the cause. Hopefully, the MD that replaced the former one is concerned about the kids instead of her status and aggressive career ambition.

To, 9:55AM above --- Why you wouldn't be talking about Shairi Turner, would you???? The chief medical doctor who was at the Dept of Juvenile Justice is now a leader at the Dept. of Health - see 2010 entries on this blog. She is creating a stink over there too.
Turner needs to get out of public service - she is just someone who starts a lot of stuff she doesn't finish. Killing a lot of people with bureaucracy in the process!!!! Take it from someone who knows. We needed a big change here and we got it, thank God.
Turner thought she was showing Frank Peterman she could get another agency Secretary-in-training job easily, when in reality the whole agency couldn't wait for HER to leave us alone.
If Hastings Youth Academy is laying peole off does this mean that the private providers are no longer favored? Gulf Coast Youth Academy has a very low census and is also laying people off...however! Rag Top and Bat Breath are still raking in the money ....
